About Raquel

I'm a NYC DOE elementary teacher with 8 years of experience helping young readers grow. I focus on K-2 phonics, decoding, fluency, and comprehension, and aim to make reading feel supportive, positive, and confidence-building. I'd describe my personality as encouraging, steady, and intentional. I like tutoring because it allows me to meet kids where they are, focus on their individual needs, and help them build confidence as they grow. I'm looking for after-school or weekend tutoring with short, focused sessions (30-60 minutes), which work best for young children and help them stay engaged, confident, and successful. I'm beginning tutoring now, building on my 8 years in the classroom supporting early readers. I enjoy reading, staying active, and finding calm, creative ways to recharge.
