About Rafa

I've been nannying for 9 years, and prior to that worked at a kids' gym that also did birthday parties! Through there I babysat for a variety of ages, as young as 6 months. Not currently certified but I was a lifeguard for three years, and am familiar with first aid and CPR. Interested in taking care of children to build ties in my community. I like working with kids because they are very honest, and most things are a new experience to them. In my spare time, I like to paint, decorate my home, and hangout with my dog, Smudge. I'm trilingual: Spanish, Portuguese, and English. I was born in Rio and grew up in Miami, and moved to Washington when I was 18. My skills include organizing, making sure everything looks clean after whatever activity, distracting, neutralizing and de-escalating anything situation that is turning sour, conversing, playing and hanging out with the kiddos.
