About Rachel

I'd describe my personality as empathetic, patient, and playful. I like tutoring because I think working one on one or in small groups is most effective to foster learning and understanding. I'm looking for a job where I can help people and be part of a healthy community. I started tutoring when I was in grad school. I've since tutored high school students, taught drawing and painting to all ages, and helped college students with writing assignments. In my spare time, I like to hike, play with my dog, read fiction, paint and draw, and train jiujitsu. Things you should know about me: I'm an old straight-edge punk rocker from the '80s, with a master's degree in Literature, and I'm also a mom to two grown boys, one of whom is autistic. And I am the dog mom to a reactive but super-sweet bulldog. My skills include writing, editing, and reading comprehension.
