About Rachel

I have worked with babies to teens in a wide variety of settings for more than 12 years. Supporting young people interacting with their world in meaningful ways that foster learning and growth is one of my favorite things! I have worked at Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh and was a teacher and academic support specialist at City of Bridges High School. I'm currently in training as a tutor for dyslexic students. I love cooking and can support specific dietary or wellness needs. I can keep kids engaged with crafts, adventures, good books, and homework help. I was homeschooled/unschooled and have experience working with families who choose alternative education as well as those with a more traditional path. My approach with young people is centered around mutual respect, fun, emotional literacy, continuous learning, and wellness/safety. I also provide private tutoring in reading and writing. Additionally, I'm a performer, history and plant nerd, and community organizer.
