I grew up in nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and hospitals with a mother that put herself through school cleaning folks houses and running a daycare out of hers to work as an occupational therapist assistant until she was eventually able to get her home licensed as a long-term end of life care facility to more immediately see to patients needs. My grandmother also often worked housecleaning and caregiving gigs and volunteered to sit with older folks in the hospital when someone in her community needed company. As for myself, while I did learn a lot through their hands-on modeling and instruction (especially when it came to safety protocols, procedural routines, and babysitting numerous nieces nephews and nibblings) I have also taken several trainings on CPR, first aid, and emergency medical care in addition to doing a number of volunteer caregiving hours for disabled friends and members of my immediate local community. I aim to be of service to those most in need.
