I grew up with a brother with Aspergers. This taught me early on how to communicate effectively and that not everyone sees the world in the same way. I have also cared for elderly, those with Alzheimer, and those recovering from surgery. I enjoyed working with the elderly and hearing their stories. Most recently, I have spent the last year and a half working with a 6 yr old special needs child with type 1 diabetes and food allergies. I have experience with monitoring blood sugar levels, identifying signs of high or low blood sugar, administering insulin injections, using an insulin pump, and working with the child to overcome her fears and anxieties surrounding diabetes. I enjoy working with those with special needs and finding creative ways to work through challenges. I am passionate about working with special needs as I believe everyone deserves the best possible care. I find that my abundance of nurturing and compassion as well as my desire to learn fits well in these scenarios.
