About Peter

I am a 1st grade teacher in Hicksville. I work as the general education teacher in an ICT ( Integrated Co-Teaching ) classroom. This allows me to work with a diverse group of learners everyday, finding the best ways to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of every learner. My tutoring specializes in early literacy teaching techniques to include letter sound recognition, word decoding, fluency, comprehension, and writing skills. I also specialize in mathematical fluency, word problem comprehension, and mental math strategies. I like tutoring because it allows me to help students unlock their full potential as learners. Every student has the ability to succeed with the right guidance and support. One thing you should know about me is I have a very unique career path that led me to teaching. I severed in the Air Force for 6 years as a survival instructor. This experience introduced me to the world of teaching and created the passion that I have now to help people learn.
