As a teenager struggling with learning disabilities of my own, I wanted to reach out to kids who had their own difficulties. This is how I got involved with working with autistic children. I understood how difficult it was for kids with special needs to navigate their daily lives. I really started to appreciate what I had to offer when I started working with organizations like The Miracle Project and The Friendship Circle. These inspirational experiences taught me that every child, challenged or not, deserves to feel welcomed and important, which is exactly what I did. The combination of working through my own obstacles and the satisfaction of helping kids overcome their own personal difficulties makes me excited to get to college and learn more about psychology and education. I'm inspired to continue doing what I love most: working with special needs children and making a difference in not only their lives, but mine as well.
