About Niva

My skills include; I have a lot of experience working with neurodivergent kids. Researching child phycology in this area is also a passion of mine. Whether it be actually understanding the needs of those kids or building in accommodations to the way I work with them. Being able to create a safe space for neurodivergent kids is really important to me. My second skill is Healthy conflict resolution. Working at camp Orkila I had a lot of practice regulating my own emotions and managing the ways I communicated with kids. To me healthy conflict resolution doesn't mean getting things perfect every time, but it does mean taking accountability when you do get things wrong. My last top skill is having fun with kids. I love to play and joke on their level. When kids come up with funny bits I love to join in and not just be a witness. For example I worked with a kid that loved wizards and lord of the rings. We would dress up in robes (bed sheets) and carry wizard staffs around (spatulas).
