About Nell

I have taught elementary students and middle school students for over 17 years, working with children from a variety of backgrounds and academic abilities. I hold a master's degree in Applied Linguistics from Columbia Teachers College, and have continued my education in literacy instruction, including coursework in the Wilson Reading System. In my classroom I provide daily instruction in phonics, phonemic awareness, encoding skills, fluency and comprehension. I have extensive experience implementing the Wilson Funndations curriculum, the Haggerty phonemic awareness curriculum and the University of Florida Institute curriculum. For me there is nothing more rewarding than seeing a child's face light up when all the threads of reading skills come together. The pride and confidence that come with fluent reading are truly magical. I look forward to helping your child discover that magic.
