About Monica

I spent one year helping elementary school children develop their basic literacy skills. We practiced reading, writing, spelling, and grammar together. I also have several years experience helping children, adolescents, and young adults with school work, both informally (with my younger siblings and brother/current foster son) and formally (as an instructor for undergraduate college courses). I believe the best way to help children and adolescents learn is to provide a highly structured yet warm and encouraging learning environment. I strive to adapt my teaching to the unique needs and strengths of the individual children with whom I work. My ultimate goal when tutoring a young person is to assist them in discovering an interest and ability in the subject.
