About Monica

Hi! I'm Monica, and I'm an aspiring educator and experienced writer/journalist who is making the switch to education. I hold a bachelor's degree in Journalism and Mass Communication and am currently pursuing my Master's in Education with a focus on secondary English (7-12). With my experience as a tutor, substitute teacher and 6+ years in editorial, I understand how to support students with different learning styles and needs. I specialize in English, reading, and writing, but I can assist in other subjects as well. My goal is to help my students gain confidence in their skills, whether that's improving grammar, strengthening essays, or developing their study skills for high school and college. I'm a patient, encouraging, and thoughtful instructor who tailors each session to each student. I can go beyond basic homework help by supporting students with study strategies, test prep, and college essays and applications, giving them the skills and confidence they need to succeed.
