My adventures in people care include years of experience in childcare, academic coaching for educationally marginalized children with more easily overlooked forms of disability, such as ADHD and higher functioning ASD (particularly as it pertains to executive function deficits), respite for children with special needs, as well as respite and health aide services to the elderly. Aside from this, I have also tutored a homeschooled, junior high student with ASD for 2 school seasons. This little guy was from India, so I had the pleasure of gaining experience with Indian culture, language, and dietary requirements. I love to cook and can make several healthy American and Indian dishes. In all, I have a huge heart for people and love to serve and invest myself for the benefit of others. I am a Christian and seek to love God and others in all that I do! I have also worked with the public as a phlebotomist and in Quality Assurance.

Melissa has been working with our adult daughter who is on the autistic spectrum as she transitions to independent living. We initially enlisted Melissa to serve in a health care mode and conduct weekly "well checks," helping with medication adherence, personal hygiene, nutrition issues (meal planning, shopping etc.) Melissa has gone far beyond those initial expectations as she has taken a true interest in getting to know our daughter on a personal level, becoming an advocate for her needs beyond the basics. During our first interview/visit, Melissa asked our daughter what she wanted from the arrangement. She responded she wanted help with her self esteem. Since then, Melissa has done just that, employing multiple activities and approaches that are having a profound, positive effect. Bottom line, she listened to our daughter and cares about helping her meet HER goals. We are so lucky to have found Melissa and can't say enough about her work ethic, compassion, knowledge, and true love for helping others.
