About Melissa

As the eldest daughter and eldest grandchild, I was always tasked with helping my family members with my younger siblings and cousins from a young age. When my youngest sister was born that was my first time officially started getting paid through IHSS. Eventually, through an internship while earning my degree I began working with children affected by the Eaton Fire through a collaboration with LA County Parks & Recreation's Care Camps. I spent two and a half weeks supporting Care Camps, daily shifts included caring for groups of 8-12 children between the ages 5 to 13 years old for 8 hour shifts, providing them with educational and entertainment activities. During this position, I was also certified in CPR/First Aid and Project WILD in order to provide kindergarten to high school aged students with education about nature, plants, and animals. So while I've had experience with kids all my life, I officially started working with children in 2023.
