About Melanie

Greetings My name is Melanie. I am 51 years old and have been caring for kids, adolescents and adults, both typical and special needs, primarily with special needs for 25 years; (translation: I am very patient and calm in crises).. Starting from a camp counselor for kids with special needs when I was 16, I then got my Bachelor's Degree in Therapeutic Recreation from Penn State University. I have worked professionally for the past 25 years, serving disabilities including but not limited to: Oppositional Defiant Disorder, ADD, ADHD, Tourette's, Seizure Disorders, Mood Disorders, Schizophrenia and mental retardation, just to name a few. I also have extensive experience working with people with physical disabilities such as MS, CP and others. I worked specifically at The Pathway School for 5 years, a school serving students with Autism Spectrum Disorders as Primary Diagnosis. I work very well with neuro-typically developing kiddos (and adults) due to my experiences. Thank you.
