About Mckenna

Hello, I'm McKenna! I'm substitute teacher working towards my teaching certificate and masters degree. I held a long term substitute position at Steilacoom highschool the last few months but as the school year ends I'm looking a fun and useful way to build skills this career will need, make some summer money before next school year starts up, and help out a local family with childcare needs. Aside from ocassional babysitting throughout life, I was the oldest kid of all my siblings and cousins and helped raise most of them at various points in my life. I have also worked as an assistant camp counselor at the Point defiance zoo, putting me in charge of groups of up to 15 kids at a time. As a substitute teacher teaching I learned a lot about managing situations and complex emotions of kids and maintaining a safe and educational environment in groups of up to 30 kids. I look forward to the opportunity to work with your family! I am CPR and first aid certified as well.
