About Mckayla

Hello! I am McKayla, a teaching artist located in Philadelphia, PA. My roots in teaching lay within Special Education, as my mother has run a classroom specializing in supporting autistic students for as long as I can remember. I spent my summers as a child accompanying her to summer school classes, and eventually volunteering on my own in my elementary/middle school's special education program. In my early teen years, I began Directing and Choreographing youth theatre productions all across Midcoast Maine. This culminated in me receiving my Highschool Diploma with a concentration in Theatre and Dance. I also have taught four years of at-home lessons for homeschool groups ages 7-12 that focused on theater (devising, acting, and technical areas) and dance! I now am a Rising Senior at University of The Arts, receiving two degrees in Musical Theatre and Directing. I would love to get the chance to work with any young artists out there in search of an outlet for their emotional landscape!
