I believe that all kids have the ability to learn anything they set their minds to, but I also believe that they all learn differently. My favorite subject has always been math and that is what got me into my gifted program in school in the 5th grade. However, until the 3rd grade I was in classes for extra help because I didn't understand the way I was being taught and people were ok with assuming I wasn't going to be smart because I do have a physical disability. The turning point for me was my 2nd grade teacher. She believed in ALL of her students and I think that is rare. I want to believe in kids and help them learn the way she did.
