About Maya

Hi! I'm Maya, a B. A. graduate from Yale (2018), who is now back home for nursing school. My tutoring focus has traditionally been English, humanities, vocab, essay writing, social studies, study skills, and college prep. I worked for a New York-based tutoring agency to support students in their writing, reading comprehension, and communication skills, as well as ACT/SAT prep. I am open to tutoring all ages, from elementary-level through college-level, including adult learners. I am a curious and creative learner; thus, I seek to support my students in not only mastering the material, but also developing critical thinking skills in the process. As an active listener and acute observer, I tailor my tutoring style to the unique needs of each student. I find that the best way to keep my students engaged in their studies is by making our sessions enjoyable and strengths-based.
