About Maya Evelyn

Hi there! My name is Maya, and I am a student at UC Davis, pursuing both a Psychology and Spanish major. I have had many professional experiences working with kids, including many years as a camp counselor and one-on-one care for a child with Angelman's syndrome. I started working with kids when I was a teenager, teaching classes for the tiny tots at my dance studio! It was beyond fulfilling, encouraging kids to get on a stage for the first time and to build confidence in themselves. With caregiving experience, I found myself learning many lessons from the child I worked with; she was a remarkable example of resilience, showing me how to communicate and support without using words, demonstrating the importance of thoughtful communication that is comfortable for everyone, one of my motivations to continue improving my fluency of Spanish. I love to plan out art projects and games that get kids outside. In addition to childcare, I can also take on house cleaning and household chores!
