About Maura

I have always loved working with kids and wanted to become a teacher. I took Early Childhood Education courses through Pueblo Community College, where I worked with a preschool program at a local elementary school. I also grew up volunteering as a summer camp counselor for children ages 5-12. At Fort Lewis, I earned a degree in Criminology and Justice Studies with minors in Pre-Law, Political Science, and Sociology & Human Services. I still missed working with children, so I became a preschool teacher, which was such a special and rewarding experience. I loved balancing my courthouse internship with a fun, silly, and encouraging classroom! After graduation, I left the school to visit family and accepted a full-time position in criminal justice. After a few months, I realized I don't want to work in an office yet. I want a more flexible schedule and to keep the joy of working with children in my life!
