About Mattie

Hello! My name is Mattie. I'm a passionate tutor, experienced in working with children from preschool through middle school. I have a background in education, childcare, and classroom instruction. I love helping students grow in both their skills and confidence! I began tutoring four years ago when I taught a K-3 math/phonics class through a homeschool co-op. Since then, I've worked with students through co-ops, a one-room schoolhouse, private tutoring, and leading lessons for different learning styles. I focus on creating a positive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and celebrating progress. Outside of tutoring, I enjoy spending time with friends, serving through my church, reading, coffee, hiking, swing dancing, and time on our farm. I love tutoring because seeing a student understand something they once struggled with is incredibly rewarding. My goal isn't only to help students learn, but to help them see themselves as capable learners
