I was the caregiver for both my grandmother and mother until they passed away. I lived with my mother and took her to all of her doctors and hairdresser appointments. I drove and assisted with shopping, both grocery and gift shopping. I helped her be as active as she could for as long as she was able. I feel this is very important for a person to feel and be as independent as is possible with the restrictions age put on us. I also provided companionship and assistance for my aunt after she lost her husband. I did light housekeeping, laundry and fixed her dinner. My recent client was an elderly woman with dementia. I provided companion care for a little over three years. When her condition declined her family made the decision to move her to her daughter's home to provide 24 hour care. I was responsible for light housekeeping, preparing meals, and assisted with shopping and running errands. I thoroughly enjoyed my time with her and am looking for another experience helping another.
