Hi there! I'm Marisa - former teacher turned toddler enthusaist looking for part-time hours to supplement my current work schedule. I've been in Austin since 2016 where I've worked as a toddler teacher in a Montessori classroom, nannied during the COVID years, and most recently worked in Early Childhood Intervention. My teaching philosophy revolves around child-led, play based learning with a strong emphasis on social-emotional development. I'm here to work through those big feelings with grace, patience and a healthy dose of silliness. Marisa is INCREDIBLE. Highly highly highly recommend. All the basics of course -- communicated well, showed up on time every time, friendly, safe, good with kids. But Marisa is so much more above and beyond the basics. She bonded with my kid "Z" by being present and open and letting Z come to her, rather than being overwhelming from the first minute. Within a few minutes, Z was happily playing in her lap. With kindness, calm, and joy, Marisa figured out Z's pacing, routines, habits, joys, and rhythm. We were in a hotel and they went exploring, did feeding time and naps, bonded with all the hotel staff (my 11-month-old is a true extrovert) and Marisa facilitated a joyful three days with safe boundaries, freedom to explore, love and a depth of care that's rare and beautiful. I felt like she attuned also to who I am as a parent and how I parent, to make the transitions and care feel seamless. We were only there for three days while I was on a work trip, but I literally wanted to take her home with us (I actually asked lol). Highest recommendation, 11 out of 10 would recommend to a friend (or, clearly, to random strangers on the internet reading this post). Marisa is worth her weight - and more - in gold.
