About Makena

Hi families! I'm a former elementary school teacher with four years of classroom experience, a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education, and an ESL endorsement. I have a genuine passion for working with children and creating a fun, nurturing, and positive environment where they feel supported and encouraged. I especially enjoy working with elementary-aged children, but I'm also happy to care for toddlers! I love incorporating creativity, outdoor activities, games, and hands-on learning into everyday routines. With my teaching background, I'm comfortable helping with homework, strengthening academic skills, and adapting activities to different personalities and learning styles. I also offer tutoring in reading, writing, math, and other elementary subjects. I'm patient, dependable, and energetic, and I believe in balancing structure with fun. I'd love the opportunity to get to know your family!
