About Makana

Aloha! I'm Makana, a student studying marine biology and a Division I athlete, a goalkeeper for women's water polo team. I am born and raised in Kailua and attended Kamehameha Schools so I am very interested in learning and sharing the Hawaiian culture and language with others. I'm CPR/First Aid certified and have experience watching kids in informal settings with family and friends. I also know how to teach kids how to swim, so I'm happy to help with swim lessons or water safety alongside babysitting. I love working with kids and bring patience and energy to every interaction. I've volunteered at a veterinary hospital, which deepened my love for caring for others and I'm very comfortable with pets. Balancing school, athletics, and volunteering has taught me how to manage a busy schedule while staying fully present with the people I'm caring for. I'd love to bring that same energy and responsibility to your family!
