About Mairead

My name is Mairead and I am currently looking for a weekly job in the morning or Friday nights. I work full-time with adolescents who are deaf-blind and have severe special needs. It's a direct care, so I help them with their learning, social, and daily living needs. I've babysat a couple of different families for over the past 12 years, but haven't sat for any families in the past 3-4 years because of my work schedule. I wouldn't mind babysitting for older children. I haven't really done that before. I know there are kids out there who are perhaps a bit too old to be babysat, but not old enough to be left home alone for the day. I don't drive, but I wouldn't mind taking kids places by MBTA-especially older kids. I'd also be interested in special needs. I know ASL and try to use it for total communication. I can do G-tube feeds and prepare foods for children. I like pulling out books and games. If it's a rainy day and I'm with small kids, I might play some music and let them dance around and burn off some energy. I'd gladly take kids to the playground if the weather is nice. I don't mind making meals either.
