About Maia

I have been working with children in both home and classroom settings for about 8 years. I began my childcare career as a full time nanny where I learned the joys of bonding with and caring for children. I have spent the last four years happily at Ithaca Community Childcare Center, where I have been given opportunities to explore all age groups and hold a variety of positions, including infant/toddler TA, pre-k TA, and Age Group Leader TA. My childcare philosophy revolves around developmentally appropriate practices, ensuring age-appropriate activities and achievable goals are set for children on an individual basis. I strive to provide quality childcare by being diligent in injury prevention, as well as teaching self-help, communication, and problem-solving skills through playful and engaging activities/conversations. I like working with kids because children offer new perspectives on old ideas. They broaden my way of thinking through every interaction!
