Experience: 6 yrs
I have worked with children my entire life as a teacher, coach, counselor, and dad. More than just teach, I look to encourage and boost confidence. I have tutored for 9 years, with students ranging from 5 years of age to 20. That includes every level of school, including high school and college courses on Algebra (I and II and College), Geometry, Statistics, Pre-Calc, and Calculus. I homeschooled both my boys until high school, where they were both straight A students and the top math students in their classes. My youngest is now a high school math teacher. If you are looking for a tutor with boundless energy and enthusiasm and a very long history of working with children, then I'm your man. Please check out my reviews for a better idea of what I have to offer. I have my Masters in education from the University of Florida.
"Louis" is known as Mr. Jack, and has been amazing for my whole family over the past 5 years. He started off in 2021 when we were home schooling but needed childcare and education 1-2 days a week. My then kindergarten daughter already didn't like math lessons with me (and I had tried everything I could think of to make it interesting/fun). Not only did Mr. Jack have her giggling through lessons, she ended up skipping second grade when we went back to public school. She has a foundation that will stay with her, and was even on the school's math team last year. She's a smart kid, but she was NOT on this path before Mr. Jack came into her life. My son did seem more mathematically inclined and took to Mr. Jack right away. My son *also* ended up skipping a grade, partially because he was able to spend an hour a week with Mr. Jack as a mentor. Mr. Jack did so well with the academics that we didn't need math tutoring any more, but he was able to transition to teaching my kids in other ways- improve games that help with creative thinking and frustration tolerance, building things with an engineering mindset, and even a little (way more than I wish we needed) conflict management between the two kiddos. Hands down, we would recommend Mr. Jack for tutoring and we're beyond thankful that he still teaches our kids 2-3 hours a month.
