Historically, I've always been a care provider for small children. However, the last few years I pivoted and have been a caregiver for an adult female with down syndrome and low functioning autism and it has been an absolute dream come true for me! Truly the best job I have ever had. I am back on care. com as I would like to leave the city (Kansas City where I live now) and move somewhere where it is a more peaceful quieter way of life, but, sadly, that means I will also have to leave behind my lovely special needs gal that I have become such good friends with over the last few years. I have one 8-year-old son whom I home school. My dream would be to find another low functioning autistic girl (either teenager or adult) who would like to join us at our house in a more rural setting or smaller town and become a part of our family, so to speak, throughout the week. And if you are looking to hire through Acumen/ Helpers Inc. even more amazing! I have A. S. so I'm an Autism 'expert' ;)
