I'd describe myself as outgoing, caring, funny and reliable. I enjoy looking after seniors because now that they're older and in need, they deserve the same care and attention they once gave others in their younger days. When working with the elderly, I hope I've made a difference in that person's life. That I've put their mind at ease, making them feel safe, loved and respected. I was a live in caregiver, 4 days a week, for an 85 yr old woman with dementia. Until 20 mos later, when her family decided to place her in skilled nursing facility. I also cared for an older man who had a stroke. It had affected him physically and cognitively. I was hired to give his wife a break 3 days a week. He had felt he was a burden. I reintroduced tasks and hobbies he enjoyed, like baking, gardening, the theatre, bookstores, resale record stores, drs appts and more.. After 2 years, once he was more self sufficient and felt confident, my job was done. I'm Life Scanned, CPR and First aid Certified
