This is a criminal background check required for all caregiver before they can message families.
Experience: 9 yrs
I recently moved to Chicago to be closer to friends and am eager to start work in my new community. My background includes teaching at the high school and college level, so tutoring comes easily for me. But I am also a caregiver - for both humans and fur babies. Growing up in a large family (my father had 12 siblings), over the years I would set aside time to care for family members when they fell ill: driving to appointments, managing their accounts, hiring additional help, preparing their meals, etc. My experience includes those with Alzheimer's, dementia, diabetes and Parkinson's. (And I can cook, too!) In addition, I also cared for a 99-year-old stranger I found hitchhiking on the side of the road. Because he had no family, I eventually became his legal representative and cared for him until he passed. As a pet owner, I have been mommy to several fur babies, including a diabetic cat who lived to be 18. I look forward to helping you.
I cannot recommend Lily enough. We were all really, really lost when she came into our lives, and she’s been a tremendous blessing - right from the start. When my 82-year-old father was suddenly sent to rehab, and my 78-year-old mother was left alone, scared and lonely, we didn’t know what to do. But Lily did. Besides scheduling the doctor visits and then driving my parents to their appointments, she managed their dozens of medications. She also did the shopping and the cooking. And when it became clear that my parents needed to be in assisted living, she researched different locations and made appointments for my parents to tour various facilities. When they found the facility they wanted, she interviewed and then arranged for the movers (including someone to take their piano), and helped them find the new pieces of furniture they needed for their new apartment. She then helped clean out their former home so they could put their property up for sale. She seemed to know what we needed when we didn’t know ourselves. She anticipated problems before they became problems, and we could always trust her to be the voice of reason. But just as important, she made my parents smile, every day, becoming nearly a member of the family.
