I started working at babysitting at the age of 11. At 16, I was a waitress and hostess at a local restaurant. During college at KU, I worked in the dorm cafeteria, cleaned professors' houses, worked in the journalism library, and worked in several nursing homes as a nurses' aide. I took a year off from college and held down 2 jobs in Portland, OR. After college, I moved to CA and began work at the City of Sausalito as Planning Secretary. In San Diego, I was the lab secretary at Mission Bay Hospital. Back in SF, I worked in several architectural and engineering firms. I became a patent/trademark paralegal in law firms in SF and in KC when I returned to care for my elderly parents. I returned to SF and became a licensed CNA/HHA and in Marin and Sonoma Counties I had numerous clients, including live-ins. I moved back to WI and then Lawrence, KS, where I worked at JCP and then resumed caregiving. I worked at Neuvant House and then Trinity In-home Care where I currently work.
