About Lauren

I am a college Sophomore majoring in Film & Poetics, I like literature and film because each is an incredible means for communicating information & ideas by allowing the audience to learn by, in a very real way, simulating experience (which I think is magic). I tutored in high school, in college I am in the process of becoming a writing fellow: a mandatory tutor at a smart school, described as writing therapy because it's conversational. I love the written word & I love teaching, I have served as mentor & apprentice at two all-ages, sober, DIY music venues doing sound technician and community outreach work. There are few better feelings than teaching a man to fish, to meet someone at their level & work at translating an idea to another set of terms. I like poetry because I don't understand what a piece is saying unless I treat it like a puzzle & translate the pretty words into the plain ideas they convey. I can help with reading comprehension, short-form & essay writing, & grammar.
