About Lauren

Howdy! I'm Lauren (she/her) - I have 5+ years of childcare experience and 3+ years in education, and I'm looking to nanny and/or tutor. I love being with kids and supporting their creativity, curiosity, and growth, especially through outdoor play and time in nature. On the tutoring side, I've worked as a K-12 reading specialist, helping students on IEPs build phonics and comprehension skills, and I've taught liberal arts courses to undergrads at Pacific Northwest College of Art. I have a Master's in Critical Studies and a Bachelor's in Biology and Gender Studies. I love teaching reading and writing especially, and use varied, hands-on methods - art, music, games, storytelling, and outdoor excursions - to help kids learn in ways that fit them best. I grew up in Bend and I'm an outdoorsy Bendite at heart! I also love fiber arts (knitting, felting, spinning) and would happily skill-share with kiddos. I'd love to join a family that values curiosity, creativity, and getting outside!
