I am the older sister of a young woman with Down syndrome and autism. I began caregiving for other families with children with Down syndrome in my teens and have now professionally cared for people with a broad range of disabilities. Developmental and intellectual disabilities can bring many challenges and frustrations, and it's extremely rewarding for me to treat every client with compassion and celebrate them. I approach my care for people with special needs with a client's safety and dignity always in mind. I can help with activities of daily living, including standby and hands-on support for bathing and toileting, standby and hands-on support for dressing, and assistance with drinking and feeding. I can also provide support with transportation and mobility support for medical appointments, errands, day programs, and social engagements, as well as other help in the home like light housekeeping, organization, and pet care.
