I am an experienced educator with 28+ years of teaching experience, specializing in literacy intervention and supporting neurodiverse learners. I hold bachelor's and master's degrees from WWU, and currently serve as a middle school Literacy Intervention Specialist. I am training to become an EBLI Practitioner (Evidence Based Literacy Instruction). EBLI is a speech-to-print, linguistic phonics approach that integrates phonemic awareness, reading, spelling, writing, vocabulary, handwriting, and comprehension. It is especially effective for students who have struggled to make progress with traditional literacy approaches. Students often make significant and accelerated gains, in just one session per week. My teaching is student centered and grounded in SOR research-based practices. I prefer to hold my sessions in the cozy classroom space attached to my home (see pictures). Outside of teaching, I am a mom and stepmom to 6 teenagers and enjoy snuggles with my dogs and hiking.
