Taking care of my mother for 10 years I would say I experienced every situation and task.
My dad was a stroke victim. He couldn't talk or walk. I assisted in feeding through a tube.
When my father died I brought my mother home with me. She broke her hip. She had difficulty waking up from the anesthesia and that's when the dementia kicked in. She was totally dependent on me. Did I mention incontinence? My mom eventually slipped into full blown Alzheimer's. I engaged in conversations with her all the time. Somehow she contracted Clostridium Difficile - C-diff. Nothing worked for her. I moved her hospital bed into my living room in front of our big window. I slept in a recliner so she wouldn't be alone.
In closing I want to add I have trained to utilize CPR/AED In addition to caring for my mother, I have cared for 50-75 clients providing whatever they need.
