About Kayla

Hi! I'm Kayla, a student at Appalachian State University studying K-12 Music Education. I am a member of the Appalachian Community of Education Scholars and the Appalachian State Honors College. I started tutoring in my junior year of high school. My first experience with tutoring was for an 8th grader with ADHD who needed help with core subjects (math, english, science, history). Senior year, I began concentrating on musical tutoring for piano and clarinet. Tutoring is a great way to develop a growth mindset in students which allows them to become more efficient problem solvers and to build self confidence. Being patient and remaining positive when a student is struggling is most productive and helps them reach their fullest potential. I make it my goal to find the source of the problem and find a solution that best fits their personal needs.
