About Kayla

Hi! My name is Kayla. I am a mother baby / NICU nurse at ECU Health. I earned my bachelors degree in psychology and nursing from ECU. I am certified in CPR for all ages. I have had a passion for working with kids from a young age since becoming the older sibling to my brothers, frequently seeking opportunities in school to take child development / psychology classes. I am comfortable caring for children with special needs or medical needs (NG tubes, oxygen, diabetic, epilepsy, etc). I love doing arts and crafts, reading, playing games, and happy to do that with kids too! I'd describe my personality as patient, empathetic, and goofy. I started working with kids when I was a TA in a special needs class at my high school. I also took a class where I would go to local elementary schools and play games with kids to get them to exercise. It was then I realized how much I enjoyed working with them! As a nurse, I've learned that my favorite population are newborns and infants.
