About Katie

I am a certified teacher with a major in Learning Disabilities K-12th grade and a minor in Elementary Education K-8. I also am currently working on a Master's in Educational Leadership. I have 5 years of classroom teaching experience. The first 2 years were spent teaching high school and middle school Algebra 1, Geometry, Pre-Algebra, English, and Media Communications. I also taught middle school and elementary school elective learning labs in reading intervention, writing fluency, number theory and problem solving. The next 2 years of my teaching career I spent teaching in an elementary resource room teaching the subjects of reading fluency, reading comprehension, basic reading, written expression, math calculation and math reasoning. My 5th year teaching has been spent teaching high school math (Algebra 2, Algebra 1, Pre-Algebra, ACT/SAT prep) and tutoring reading. In addition to my full-time teaching experience, I have taught summer school and tutored numerous students (approx. 25 individuals) in math, reading, writing and test preparation. I am trained and able to diagnosis and create learning plans to pin-point specific areas of need in reading and math.
