About Kathryn

In my twenties I have worked in a variety of childcare settings; I have been a nanny to 3, an elementary teacher to many, an afterschool program director and, many moons ago, a caretaker in an orphanage. My students love that I play, run, dance with them and let them be silly and free. I value safety and comfort, joyful movement, curiosity and wonder, and seek to love and be present with each child I meet, whether as a babysitter or in a more long-term, structured role. The most meaningful way I have found to contribute to my community is through supporting families and the healthy growth of the next generation. One thing you should know about me is that I love Abbas K., an Iranian director who has made many films in which friendship and childhood are principal topics. That is to say that I carry in my heart a certain appreciation for the tenderness in family and childhood that his films portray, and I do believe it has positively shaped how I interact with kids.
