Hi! My name is Katie. I love children and I have always known from a young age that working with and caring for kids is what I wanted to do. I am a certified elementary teacher with experience teaching first grade and kindergarten for five years. In addition to that I have been a nanny for many wonderful families, whose children I have grown very close with. I graduated with a degree in Elementary Education from Eastern Michigan. Teaching and caring for children is my life long passion. I love being a part of and watching a child learn and grow. I think children feel the most comfortable and confident when they feel cared for so I believe in creating a nurturing environment with consistency and routine. I also believe young children learn best through play and I love creating activities, playing games, doing arts and crafts and playing/exploring the outdoors with them. Katie helped watching my 9 month old son while I was working. She seemed very patient and pleasant with kids, read to him and split his time well between toys, books, jumper and naps without even being told. She noticed when he is tired and sensed his needs. She washed her hand once she got into the house and used a tissue to adjust something on the nipple of his bottle. She obviously has a good experience with kids. While he was sleeping, she organized his playing area and washed his bottles. She even offered to wash stuff unrelated to him and to discard the trash on her way out. Very polite and trustworthy, also very sweet and approachable. I would definitely recommend Katie!
