About Kate

I'm passionate about nurturing curiosity, confidence, and critical thinking in every student. My approach to tutoring is flexible and fun - I know that I learn best when I can find a genuine connection to a topic, and I'm committed to finding ways to engage each student on just about any subject. From working with a diverse group of children and adults, I've learned that trust and listening are just as important in a tutoring relationship as subject matter knowledge. I value communication and goal setting as a I build a relationship with students and parents alike. In my day job, I do pre-doctoral economic research on education and public safety for the University of Chicago. My technical experience with data analysis, statistics, machine learning, and economics complement my skills as a thinker, communicator, and published writer. I love to learn and feel most fulfilled when I see students empowered to ask questions and try difficult problems!
