About Kate

Hi! My name is Kate and I am a freshman starting at Durham Tech in the Spring! I am a lifeguard in the summer time as well as an individual and group swim instructor. This means that I am certified in basic first aid, the Heimlich, and CPR. I have always loved and got along well with kids. They are a breath of fresh air from the real world and I enjoy spending time with them. I also like the idea of being able to leave a positive impact and provide another person for them to talk to (or just hangout with). One of the most memorable and impactful adults during my childhood was my amazing babysitter and the thought of being that to someone else is so fulfilling and powerful to me. Unfortunately when I moved to Chapel Hill, I was so busy with school that I didn't have much time to babysit so I mostly did petsitting but back in Los Angeles (where I grew up), I would babysit my friends' younger siblings and also volunteer at my church for kids with mental disabilities.
