I have 7 1/2 years of experience caring for children with special needs. My son had a severe form of epilepsy so most of my experience is first-hand. I am comfortable with seizure monitoring and the administration of medication orally, rectally, and via g-tube. I have years of experience with respiratory therapy (not professionally, only personally with my son) including Vest treatments, oral suctioning, percussion therapy, nebulizer treatments, and oxygen supplementation using a nasal cannula. I am educated and experienced in transferring, physical, occupational, and speech therapy techniques, diapering, and bathing. I am skilled in the use of many types of pediatric equipment including, but not limited to, feeding pumps, wheelchairs, standers, gait trainers, seating, and orthotics. In addition to caring for my son, I also worked for one year at the local elementary school. I worked with students with developmental and behavioral issues in a 3rd-5th grade Special Education classroom. While only 1 year of my experience is "professional", I was blessed with 6 1/2 years of caring for my amazing son. I LOVE spending time with special kids!
