About Karen

After college, through work as a poet/teacher, I became skilled at engaging elementary through middle school students based on their developmental needs. Later, when I had my own daughter, I relished her daily changes and new words, read to her constantly, and loved making her laugh. It has been a privilege to help her grow into the 27-year-old film/video graduate and singer she is today. Fall 2024 will mark my sixth year as a childcare provider for children three months to 13 years old, and I am happy to report I connected well with all ages and enjoyed getting to know each family. Through this vital work, I can help my community, contribute to my well-being, and have more time to pursue my writing and other interests. I am physically fit and mentally prepared for the challenges of life with children, and familiar with the fun library, museum, arts, theater, and sports activities available in the area. My child-centered philosophy includes limit-setting as well as free play.

Karen was a great candidate for our position. In the end, we did not hire her but it was a very close decision. Karen loves the outdoors and is passionate about the environment. Also her ability to provide a language perspective to my children was very appealing. We were brainstorming the possibility of focusing on the outdoors and leveraging her background in creative writing to encourage language for my preschooler.
