I have a younger cousin that has special needs, so I have been involved in this type of care for more than 15 years. My very first home care position was with special needs young adults. I have experience with ALS, Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome and epilepsy. I have core training on transfers using the gate belt, slideboard, Hoyer lift and full hands-on transfers. I provide care that includes household chores, personal care, bathing, peri-care, ADL's, feeding, dressing and errands. I have experience with suction tubes, tracheotomy, colostomy and catheters. My goal working with special needs patients is to show them that we are all human and we are all different, giving them the care and love and smiles we all deserve in life.
