Hi I recently retired as Executive Director of a Memory Care Community, primarily working with Alzheimers and Dementia. I thought I would enjoy retirement, but I am missing my favorite people very much. I am looking for a part time position, preferably mornings. I love to cook! I worked as a pediatric ICU nurse for many years and I retired to go back to school for a new career. I graduated with a degree in Therapeutic Recreation which provides me an valuable insight to providing a quality of life for elders who may be house bound or just in need of quality companion care. I have an abundance of resources for a fun therapeutic day. I've learned that when a senior is engaged in routine therapeutic activities he/she is more prone to being present, happy and engaging with day to day family. So many struggle with the emotions of caring for elderly parents. It really can be trying.
I cannot say enough about the exceptional care and compassion our family received from Julie during one of the most difficult times in our lives. Julie went above and beyond in every way, not just attending to medical needs with skill and professionalism but truly seeing and honoring our Nana as a person. She took time to listen, to learn about Nana's life and what mattered to most to her. Julie brought genuine warmth and dignity to every interaction. In addition to the personal care Julie excelled at the care for our extended for my wife, myself and our family. She patiently answered our questions, helped us understand what to expect, and provided emotional support that made an incredibly painful journey more bearable. Her gentle presence brought comfort not just to our dear Nana, but to all of us. I am forever grateful for the gift of Julie's care during those final days. She helped us create peaceful, meaningful moments we will treasure always. Julie is someone who truly lives out the calling of hospice care.
