About Julia

Are you looking to help your child make progress in reading over the summer? Whether you are seeking support for a struggling reader or to help your child maintain or extend skills, summertime is a great opportunity to work with a literacy tutor! My name is Julia and I am offering literacy tutoring to elementary students. I have 10 years of teaching experience in language and literacy development. I am an elementary ESL teacher in Revere Public Schools, with experience supporting students K-5th at a wide range of English language and literacy levels. I am licensed in Elementary ESL 1-6 and graduated with an MA in Applied Linguistics/Teaching ESL from UMass Boston. I have completed the introductory Orton-Gillingham course through IMSE, and have experience in structured literacy practices that help all students succeed in reading. I come to teaching with a friendly and structured approach, and the belief that reading and writing are skills that can be learned and practiced!
